Ratonero Palmero

A ratting dog from the Canary Islands, found mainly on La Palma and Tenerife. It is not recognized by the FCI; in Spain it is on the Grupos Étnicos list, a step before national recognition. The breed club is based in El Paso, La Palma, and a DNA study of 58 dogs found it to be a clearly distinct breed. It is the smallest of the La Palma breeds and the second smallest of the Canary Island breeds.
