Australian Labradoodle
A crossbreed still in development. It dates to the 1980s, when Wally Conron set out to breed a guide-dog type suitable for people with allergies and asthma; Conron has since said he regrets starting the cross. It descends from the Labradoodle (Labrador Retriever and Poodle), with Flat-coated Retrievers, Wheaten Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, and/or Curly-coated Retrievers crossed in. Breeding continued in Australia toward a set structure, coat, and temperament, and its eagerness to please can suit it to therapy and family work.
