Savoy Sheepdog

An endangered herding dog from the subalpine Alps of France, also called the Berger des Alpes. It is not recognized by the FCI but is officially recognized by the French Kennel Club; in 2018 only about 100 dogs were thought to remain. It is a non-molosser, medium to large, very muscular dog with a long, sturdy body, often black and tan or harlequin, sometimes with blue or odd-colored eyes. It is the product of natural selection in geographic isolation.
